Login for End-users

Login page

You need to login into the administration area, or the back end, of your website if you want to access the management features of October (edit content, add accounts, install new functionality, etc.).

Note: The default login page is: /backend (e.g. https://example.com/backend).

Resetting your password

If you cannot remember your password, you can reset it using the email address you provided. Since this password enables you to manage a website it is important to use a password that:

  • is unique (in the sense that you do not use it to login anywhere else)
  • is long

You can use a password manager to securely store your passwords so you do not need to remember them.

Sign-in throttling

To prevent automated hacking attempts October implements a feature called "throttling". This basically means that if you enter the wrong password too often within a certain period of time, the account is locked for a short period of time. The account will be automagically unlocked after a couple of minutes.

Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi Factor Authentication is a security feature that combines multiple ways of authentication.

Generally:

  • Something you know (e.g. a password)
  • Something you have (e.g. a smartphone)
  • Something you are (e.g. a fingerprint)

Although October does not offer Multi Factor Authentication by default, you can add it in a plugin.
