End-users Permissions

Introduction

October utilises an advanced permission system. Plugins can also register permissions that control access to the features in the back-end.

Go to Settings -> System -> Administrators.

Super users

The simplest but most powerfull permission is that of Super user. It grants users unlimited access to all areas of the system. Super users can also add and manage other users. Super users are only manageable by themselves or other S uper users; they are not visible to nor editable by regular administrators.

Groups

If you have a lot of users managing individual permissions is a lot of work. By grouping users you can change permissions for multiple users at once.

Groups are an organizational tool for grouping administrators, they can be thought of as "user categories". They have nothing to do with permissions and are strictly for organizational purposes.

Roles

If you have a lot of users managing individual permissions is a lot of work. By grouping users you can change permissions for multiple users at once.

Roles are groupings of permissions with a name and description used to identify the role. An Administrator can only have one role assigned to them at once. A Role could be assigned to multiple administrators. October ships with two system roles by default, developer and publisher. Any number of custom roles with their own combinations of permissions can be created and applied to users.
